Fintechlab TOP 5🔥 — Fintechlab’s weekly rundown of our favorite articles and resources this week

Hey everyone! As we approach the one month mark of social distancing, we’re pondering the longer term impacts of this crisis: a continued focus on low touch solutions, remote work, the ability to adapt, and becoming fully digital. Take a look at the resources below! 👇

1. Growth in the Low Touch Economy by Board of Innovation

Human behavior and attitudes are changing due to COVID-19. Some of these will be driven by the organizations’ response to the crisis and others will be driven by changing customer habits. Instead of asking, “Is there a reason to do this online?” we’ll be asking, “Is there any good reason to do this in person?” Fantastic research by @BoardofInnovation has published and it shows which fundamental shifts are here to stay, how will they turn industries upside down, and which strategic options do you have to go on offense.

2. Remote Work for Design Teams — INVISION

By Ben Goldman, Abby Sinnott, and Greg Storey
Learn the best practices for running a remote design team, and discover how designers can help teams collaborate while working apart. This book was written by our team at InVision, a fully distributed remote workforce since 2011.

3. Designing for change: The challenge of institutional aging | Jeffrey Elman

All institutions age (at least, until they die). Many grow. A few are very successful. With age, growth, and success come difficult challenges. One of the most difficult challenge confronting all organizations is ensuring that they change with the times and they are able to sustain innovative practices in the face of countervailing pressures.

4. 📖 WORTH A READ: Digital Bank: Strategies to Launch or Become a Digital Bank by Chris Skinner

Digital Bank tracks the innovations in banking and how the mobile internet is changing the dynamics of consumer and corporate relationships with their banks. The implication is that banks must become digitized, and that is a challenge as becoming a Digital Bank demands new services focused upon 21st-century technologies.

5. 🏆 Hooks: An Intro on How to Manufacture Desire

Type the name of almost any successful consumer web company into your search bar and add the word “addict” after it. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Try “Facebook addict” or “Twitter addict” or even “Pinterest addict” and you’ll soon get a slew of results from hooked users and observers deriding the narcotic-like properties of these web sites. How is it that these companies, producing little more than bits of code displayed on a screen, can seemingly control users’ minds? Why are these sites so addictive and what does their power mean for the future of the web?
